I also do some capturing with my DSLR which is a Canon 5D markII. I use this camera with a Canon 50mm Macro f2.5. I shoot in RAW and make a custom camera profile using X-Rite’s ColorChecker Passport.  I mostly use this for web scans and smaller reproductions. It works great for impressionist art. The color accuracy is TOTALLY Amazing!!

To complete my copy set up I utilize a Copy wall and Copy Lights built by R and R Copy Systems http://randrcopysystems.com/ This was designed and engineered by my Dad, utilizing my trials and experience copying art. This is a great solution for Hanging and Lighting Art.

The canvas output (shown in Photo) was done on a Canon IPF9100 60″ printer using Canon’s Lucia Ink set. Final output size was 66×54 which made a 60×48 final sized Gallery wrap. Link To Ink Longevity

I love the control you have when using HDR for a commercial Application. This is a example of using HDR to gives a illustrative look but still photographic experience of an Exterior. Yes I shot these pictures of the surf spot named Jaws on the North Shore of Maui. Jaws is a big wave surf spot. It does not even break until the surf exceeds 20 feet or more. It is for tow ins, which means that the wave is so big that you cannot even paddle into it, you have to be towed into wave with a jet ski. The first day I sat on top of Alex Merks van which had a ideal location on the edge of the cliff, because he spent the night. Second day I hiked down the cliff and shot from a little ledge on the cliff. I shoot all of the photos on both days in the morning just after sunrise. I shot this with my Canon 5d mark2 with a 35to350 zoom. I cropped these photos to zoom in on the action. A 600 to 800mm would be the better choice.

The buoys on Monday where 23 feet 17 seconds apart the buoys on Tuesday where 19 feet 17 seconds apart. National Weather service said that waves would be 20 to 30 feet with occasional 50 footers.

This photo is from Tuesday, which was a little smaller than Monday.

Yes it was crowded with the roads jam packed with people and cars. The road is a old pineapple field and really narrow hard for  cars to pass each other.

In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.
If you have ever photographed a high contrast scene, you know that even the best exposure will typically have blown out highlights and flat shadows. Shooting HDR and using Photomatix (software) offers two ways to solve this problem: 1. HDR Tone Mapping: Reveal highlight and shadow details in an HDR image created from multiple exposures. 2. Exposure Fusion: Merge differently exposed photographs into one image with increased dynamic range.

Benefits for photographers include 1. saving on lighting equipment with no need to acquire expensive  equipment and carry it when you shoot high contrast scenes. Just enable the Auto Exposure Bracketing feature of your camera, and merge your photos into an image with extended dynamic range.
2. Great pictures on cloudy days Shadowless hazy sunlight or an overcast sky usually results in dull-looking photographs. The tone mapping tool of Photomatix Pro can turn them into great-looking images. Check this image as example.
3. Well exposed panoramas.
A panoramic scene is almost always a high contrast scene you can’t limit your view to areas with the same brightness when shooting a 360° panorama. By taking views under several exposures and processing them, you can create a panorama that will show details in both the dark and bright areas of the scene.
